St John’s Mansfield

The foundation stone of the original St.John’s Anglican Church was laid in 1865 by Mr. Alfred Chenery, and the church opened on Sunday 6th May, 1866. In 1940 the new church was completed, comprising a bell originally from St. Mary’s Anglican Church Woods Point.

The magnificent pews of Manchurian Oak were donated anonymously. The rose window above the altar and two stained-glass windows were given in memory of parishioners. The E.F.Walcker & Co German pipe organ was installed in 1990, having been purchased from St.James’ Uniting Presbyterian Church by Mrs. Maude as a donation in memory of her husband.
