PLANNING YOUR WEDDING SERVICE IN THE ANGLICAN PARISH OF MANSFIELD
Thank you for considering The Anglican Parish of Mansfield as the venue for your wedding ceremony. We look forward to helping make your wedding day one you will remember and cherish for ever.
It is important that you contact the Parish Priest as soon as possible, not only to secure the date and time you wish, but also to ensure that government requirements/timeframes are adhered to.
We offer services at St.John’s Mansfield, Christ Church Bonnie Doon, St.Peter’s Jamieson. With special consideration and permission, weddings may take place in other locations such as at Craig’s Hut, wineries, and places special to the bride and groom.
You do not have to be a member of this church to be married at one of our churches, nor do you have to attend services to be eligible. However, one of the couple must have been baptised in a Christian Church.
All weddings are conducted under the guidelines of the Anglican Church of Australia. This doesn’t mean that the service has to be stuffy, boring, irrelevant, or unconnected to your life. There is a choice of services available, as well as flexibility in the planning of the marriage service itself.
St. John’s Mansfield has an excellent and well maintained pipe organ, as well as a piano. The Jamieson and Bonnie Doon Churches have smaller organs. Please be sure to discuss with the Parish Priest the music you would like played during your wedding service. The acoustics in St. John’s are good so string quartets, choristers, soloist singers or musicians and even CDs sound good. Please note that electrical power is not yet connected to the Christ Church in Bonnie Doon building.
Please also discuss with the Parish Priest the flowers you would like to have in the church for your wedding. For St. John’s, Mansfield, we suggest a minimum of 2 large-ish arrangements suitable for pedestals and perhaps two smaller arrangements as may be recommended by your florist. Other churches, being smaller, will require fewer flowers.
For weekend ceremonies at St. John’s, Mansfield, we ask that the flowers be delivered and put in place on Friday afternoon before 5pm. For St. Peter’s Jamieson or Christ Church, Bonnie Doon delivery will also be required on Friday afternoon at an agreed time. We ask too that flowers installed for a wedding ceremony remain in place in the churches until after the Sunday morning service.
Confetti and rice are not permitted under any circumstances. Rose petals may be used outside the church buildings.
For weddings at Mansfield, Bonnie Doon and Jamieson, we offer an inclusive wedding package (not including the flowers). Fees for weddings are to be discussed with the Parish Priest.
Contact our Parish Priest, to schedule an appointment to get the process started. Details regarding the ceremony itself, your order of service, photography, music, other regulations, the rehearsal date, etc, are covered during your meetings with the Parish Priest:
